Available in four body styles, saloon, convertible A, convertible B and coupé A, the W187 sold 18,514 units, of which only 1,278 were convertible A and 997 convertible B. Sold from 1951 to 1955, it was one of the most expensive cars of its time before being replaced by the new "Ponton" in 1954. Apart from the coupe, the A convertible was the most sought-after version of the Mercedes-Benz W187, as its lines were much slimmer and more elegant than the B convertible, whose rear windows disrupted the design.
