Serial number ar356205 Elegant italian coupe French title In 1962 Alfa Romeo launched its new Giulia saloon but was unable to break away from the Giulietta Sprint and Spider, which were destined to retire. The Milanese company therefore decided to extend their existence for a few more years by equipping them with a new engine and giving them the sweet name of "Giulia". Alfa Romeo thus achieved the perfect compromise between the more advanced and powerful mechanics of the Giulia and the iconic and still relevant lines of the Giulietta. On 27 June 1962, Alfa Romeo presented the Giulia 1600 Sprint and Spider at the Monza racetrack, equipped with a 1,570 cc engine developing 91 bhp at 6,200 rpm and a 5-speed gearbox. This enabled the coupé to reach a top speed of 172 km/h, a great achievement for the time. To differentiate the Giullietta from the Giulia, 1600 monograms were placed on the rear boot lid and the front wings, and the side indicators were now rectangular. Inside, the dashboard has been redesigned with leatherette and new heating controls. The steering wheel is now in black Bakelite and has three aluminium 18 spokes. The door panels are completely covered in leatherette. The Giulia Sprint 1600 was built in 7,107 units, the last ones in 1964. Our example is presented with a beautiful red paint job and a grey and black cloth interior. The black leatherette rear seat, the 3-spoke bakelite steering wheel and the original radio make the interior of this car a beautiful Italian cockpit. The chrome has been redone as well as the paint. The brakes will be revised for the sale. Our road test shows a good behaviour, faithful to the sensations promised by the Twin Cam Bialbero. The gears shift well and the torque is easily distributed, a coupe that is as comfortable in corners as it is in a straight line. Aesthetically, the car looks good and seems to have been carefully maintained. NOITCELLOC ED SELIBOMOTUA 1202 TELLIUJ 40 EHCNAMID
