MAS Humanitarian Action Objectives Analyse and critically review major humanitarian crises, past and present, as well as future challenges, from an interdisciplinary perspective Use specialised problem-solving skills integrating knowledge on humanitarian crises acquired throughout the courses Develop creative and flexible procedures to solve problems Formulate and defend an argument taking into account ethical issues and humanitarian principles Take responsibility in challenging and moving contexts by formulating and implementing appropriate, coherent, flexible and creative strategies Demonstrate leadership and innovation in managing programmes, projects and teams Enhance self-management in a stressful and demanding environment, identifying one’s own strengths and limitations Audience Professional working in humanitarian action or in development wishing to reflect critically on his own experience in an academic setting Professional from other sectors wishing to deepen his understanding of the contemporary humanitarian system Programme A core curriculum of 3 months of intensive course work on the theory and fundamental questions of humanitarianism 3 research methodology weeks 2 elective courses on a specialised subject to choose among: Designing Strategies and Projects Duration for Humanitarian Action (distance learning or residential) • Communication, Advocacy and Negotiation September 2018-September 2019 for Humanitarian Action • Health of Populations Affected by Humanitarian Emergencies • Legal 10 months minimum Environment of Humanitarian Action • People Management in Humanitarian Settings 3 years maximum A dissertation on a topic chosen by the participant to be submitted in June or August 60 ECTS credits This programme is part of CERAH’s training offer including one MAS, one DAS and one CAS with 5 specialisations.
