Gas & Low-Carbon Energies Gas & Low-Carbon Energies Spar Hull Disconnection System TYPICAL DEPLOYMENT TYPICAL DEPLOYMENT project experience project experience references references 2022@TechnipEnergies - All rights reserved Floating Spar platform requiring to be temporarily disconnected from its mooring and risers in the case of an extreme ice event, has a buoy below the main substructure that supports the topsides. The risers are supported on the buoy. Two such buoys, used with a concrete Spar, are: Disc Type and a Disc Buoy with Truss (as shown below). The buoys support the risers/umbilicals and generally also the primary mooring. In some design options with the primary mooring being not supported on the buoy after disconnection, the buoy has its own secondary mooring system. Typical Deployment Project experience References Areas with high ice/iceberg loadings where a large diameter Spar platform needs to be designed for disconnection of its risers and moorings to protect them from the design iceberg loadings. If the platform is designed to withstand the iceberg loading (ie stay and fight), no disconnection or buoy is required. None built to date, but multiple studies have been performed.
