Juan José Hidalgo recibió una placa conmemorativa, en nombre de todo el Gobierno, por haberse convertido en “un actor fundamen-tal del sector turístico mundial” y haber conseguido “abrir los cielos de Colombia y contribuir de manera significativa al desarrollo de la industria del turismo”, según rezaba la distinción entregada. El presidente de Globalia se mostró muy agradecido por la con-decoración recibida, todo un reconocimiento al compromiso que el grupo turístico mantiene con Colombia y, en especial, con su conec-tividad aérea y su desarrollo hotelero. De hecho, Air Europa inició su operativa en Colombia en junio de 2016 al volar por primera vez a Bogotá. Tres años después, dobló su apuesta por el país al abrir ruta a Medellín. La operativa supuso no solo una nueva puerta de entrada a Colombia al turista internacional, sino que, a través del hub de Madrid, los pasajeros procedentes de Bogotá y Medellín pasaron a tener una rápida y perfecta conexión con una completa red de destinos europeos y españoles. Por otra parte, la división hotelera del grupo, Be Live Hotels, dis-pone en Cartagena de Indias del establecimiento Be Live Experience Cartagena Dubai, un complejo hotelero temático de 250 habitaciones frente a las playas de Bocagrande. ENG The chairman of Globalia, Juan José Hidalgo, has been decorat-ed by the Colombian Government for his contribution to the devel-opment of tourism in the country, in a ceremony held at the end of July at the Colombian Embassy in Spain, as part of the celebrations for the Latin American country’s National Day. Juan José Hidalgo received a commemorative plaque, on behalf of the entire government, for having become “a key player in the global tourism sector” and for having managed to “open the skies of Colom-bia and contribute significantly to the development of the tourism industry”, as the award states. The president of Globalia was very grateful for the honour, recog-nition of the group’s commitment to Colombia and, in particular, to its air connectivity and hotel development. In fact, Air Europa began operating in Colombia in June 2016, when they flew to Bogotá for the first time. Three years later, they reinforced their commitment to the country by opening a route to Medellín. The service meant not only a new gateway to Colombia for international tourists, but also that, through the Madrid hub, passengers from Bogotá and Medellín had the ideal, quick connection with a whole network of European and Spanish destinations. The group’s hotel division, Be Live Hotels, also has the Be Live Experience Cartagena Dubai establishment in Cartagena de Indias, a 250-room themed hotel complex facing the beaches of Bocagrande. Air Europa y Viva Air, aerolínea colombiana de Ultra Low Cost, han suscrito un acuerdo interlínea por el que Air Europa refuerza su pre-sencia en Colombia y en Perú, al ofrecer nuevas y más opciones de vuelo y ampliar la oferta de rutas a sus clientes. En virtud de la alianza alcanzada, desde el pasado mes, los pasaje-ros de Air Europa pueden conectar desde Bogotá y/o Medellín con 18 ciudades colombianas donde opera la aerolínea Viva Air, entre ellas: Cali, Pereira, Montería, Riohacha, Cúcuta, Bucaramanga, junto con destinos en la Costa Atlántica y el Caribe como San Andrés, Cartage-na y Santa Marta. Todo ellos han hecho que la aerolínea haya logrado posicionarse como los ‘Reyes de las Playas’ en Colombia por las rutas que se conectan con estos destinos. Además, Air Europa también ofertará vuelos desde Lima a Cuzco, como destino internacional don-de opera la aerolínea colombiana. ENG Air Europa and Viva Air, the Colombian Ultra Low Cost airline, have signed an interline agreement which sees Air Europa strengthening its presence throughout Colombia and Peru, offering new and more flight options and expanding the range of routes available to customers. Thanks to this new alliance, since last month, Air Europa passen-gers have been able to connect from Bogotá and/or Medellín with 18 Colombian cities where the airline Viva Air operates, including Cali, Pereira, Montería, Riohacha, Cúcuta and Bucaramanga, along with des-tinations on the Atlantic Coast and the Caribbean such as San Andrés, Cartagena and Santa Marta. All of these connecting destinations have gained the airline a reputation as the ‘Kings of the Beaches’ in Colombia. Air Europa will also be offering flights from Lima to Cuzco, as an inter-national destination where the Colombian airline operates.
