TITLE TEXT HERE Project Light Erith undertook the excavation and installation of the lower basement at Project Light in Southwark, London. The site was located within a densely populated residential area surrounded by many new developments. The project was situated at Canada Water on the former Decathlon sports store which was demolished under a separate contract by Erith. Following on from the demolition works carried out by Erith, works included the excavation and installation of the lower basement. The works were carried out under Section 61 with Southwark Council which imposed strict agreements for noise, dust and vibration monitoring, vehicle movements and working hours. The project was a design and build contract that encompassed the following scope of works: • Principal Contractor role • Secant piling • Structural piling • Steel sheet piling • Bulk excavation and removal • Design and Installation of temporary works • Drainage • Reinforced concrete elements for raft, slab, walls and cores Erith worked extensively to improve upon original design criteria which resulted in savings in cost and time that was shared between all parties. As part of Erith’s commitment to a safer London, Erith collaborated with the City of London Police is hosting a Safe Cycling campaign on the roads outside of the project. The campaign aimed to focus on achieving a safer co-existence between lorry drivers and vulnerable road users. No reportable incidents or accidents occurred on-site. Location: Southwark, London SE16
