TITLE TEXT HERE Marble Arch Erith was employed by Almacantar to undertake the asbestos removal, soft strip, demolition, temporary works and associated basement work to Marble Arch Place, a landmark tower overlooking London’s Hyde Park. The site included a site-wide single level basement, 2-storey podium, cinema and a 23-storey tower block. The project was divided into 3 phases, these being: Phase 1: Asbestos removal and soft strip to Marble Arch Tower, the Odeon Cinema and the low level surrounding buildings. Phase 2: Demolition of Marble Arch Tower, the Odeon Cinema and the low level surrounding buildings. Phase 3: Groundwork that included temporary work installation (sheet pile and propping), basement wall & slab demolition, pile mat construction and underpinning redundant subways on the boundary line. Given the nature of the structure, Erith deployed a range of methodologies to ensure the building was carefully deconstructed within the footprint of the building. Methodologies included sequential controlled top-down demolition, mechanical methods and demolition utilising an ultra-high reach excavator – all of which were undertaken to pave way for a £400M mixed-used development comprising of a residential, office and retail premises. The busy urban area in which the works took place was at the forefront of our safe system of working. The site was located at the West End of Oxford Street, adjacent to the iconic Marble Arch and bound by Oxford Street, Edgeware Road and Bryanston Street. As a result, our Traffic Management Plans and Neighbourhood Liaison Strategy were pivotal in the successful delivery of this prestigious contract. Location: Marble Arch, London W1H
