This NGO is involved in education and social integration through sports, in France and a number of other countries around the world, supporting children affected by conflict and poverty. It also trains teachers and adults to implement its sports programmes on a long-term basis. The projects supported by the Foundation in 2023 are designed to help Ukrainian refugee children in Poland and Romania. In Warsaw and Wroclaw, Play International is working in partnership with the V4Sport Foundation. In Romania, where the NGO is developing a similar programme, it has teamed up with Sport all. More than 900 children and around sixty teachers are already benefiting from this on-site programme. It includes: learning the rules, raising awareness of what it means to be a good sport, strategy, team spirit and regular analysis of on-site needs in order to adapt the programme. This is collective effort is planned for long-term action. The Air France Foundation donated €30,000 to this programme, which gives these children a new lease on life and new opportunities. SCROLL Anne Méaux AND Capucine DavisseauAnne Méaux, Social Innovation Coordinator and Capucine Davisseau, Social Innovation Project Manager at Play International “In the field, we work with young refugees and their families, as well as local professionals involved in sports education programmes. Team sports encourage cooperation and communication and get all the children playing together, overcoming the language barrier and competition. We raise awareness of the important role that sports coaches play in integrating refugee children. Ultimately, for this to work, our aim is to facilitate dialogue between teachers, Polish or Romanian and Ukrainian families, and local and refugee children and parents.” SCROLL Île-de-France The Culture pour l’enfance Foundation offers a unique artistic experience for children in the hospital The mission of the Culture pour l’enfance Foundation is to make culture accessible to the most vulnerable children (unstable social conditions, with disabilities or suffering from illnesses). To do this, it provides artistic and cultural education programmes. In 2023, the Air France Foundation supported one of these projects for children hospitalised with serious illnesses. 110 children participated in the Art en immersion à l’hôpital (Art in Immersion at the Hospital) programme in partnership with AP-HP hospital groups in the Ile-de-France region. The activities offered by the Culture pour l’enfance Foundation go far beyond simply raising awareness. They combine learning about the arts with artistic practice in workshops led by professional teachers and artists. In Paris, at the Atelier des Lumières, three options were created, depending on the state of health and desires of each child. Each option allowed the participants to experience emotions, opening their eyes to a unique artistic experience: an immersive exhibition, followed by visual art workshops and dance integrating the five senses and self-expression through movement. Finally, children in sterile rooms or palliative care at home can experience a digital work of art using virtual reality headsets. The Air France Foundation contributed €25,000 to this project. SCROLL Vietnam Passerelles numériques gives disadvantaged youth a future Passerelles numériques, a nonprofit, gives disadvantaged youth in Da Nang, a city in southern Vietnam, a chance to become working professionals. It helps them to find their place in the world of technology so that they can integrate into society. The aim is to help these young people escape the inequalities inherent to their social situations. In order to make these fifty or so young people between the ages of 19 and 25 employable on the long term, the nonprofit goes beyond teaching technical skills. It teaches them how to behave in the workplace, encourages independence and rewards commitment. It also helps them learn English and sets them up with internships to help them move forward in the fast-paced world of the digital revolution. This comprehensive training programme aligns with the Foundation’s commitment to combating poverty and exclusion among young people. In 2023, the Foundation gave €20,000 in aid.
