January February March April May July September October November December Donation drive for Senegal Toys, educational games, clothes, childcare and school equipment: in 2023, no less than 5.5 tonnes were collected from Air France employees. Transported with the support of Air France Cargo, the equipment was distributed in May to ten partner associations working for disadvantaged children in Senegal. For the past ten years, the Foundation has been organising this major fund-raising campaign in aid of humanitarian associations in Senegal and Madagascar. After a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Foundation is reviving this tradition, which relies on the generosity of its employees. January Call for donations for the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey Two earthquakes of magnitude 7.8 and 7.5 caused considerable damage in Turkey on 6 February. The Air France Foundation quickly mobilised to help the victims. An appeal for financial donations was launched among employees and the sums collected were donated to Care, an international NGO specialising in emergency aid. In addition, a collection of basic necessities was organized from 13 to 21 March at the Cité des Personnels Navigants at Charles de Gaulle airport and transported by Air France Cargo to Turkey. February 30th call for projects to support the education and employment of young people For the 30th year, the Air France Foundation has launched a call for projects so that associations committed to supporting vulnerable young people can submit their projects. The financial support given to children and young people focuses on education, social and professional integration, awareness of environmental issues and training in sustainable tourism in countries where the airline operates. The 2023 projects were approved by the Board of Directors in July. March A hackathon to involve Air France employees in the Foundation Drawing on collective intelligence to build the Foundation of tomorrow, the Foundation organised its first Hackathon. Four competing teams of employees brainstormed on the subjects of «employee engagement» and «promoting the Foundation». They all pitched their ideas to a panel of judges, and one of them was chosen as the winner. A unifying and innovative initiative to raise awareness of the Foundation’s work among employees and rejuvenate the network of 5,000 volunteers. July 2 | 2 Support for street children in New Delhi To underline the Air France KLM Group’s support for the Foundation’s actions, a delegation led by Anne-Marie Couderc, Non-Executive Chairman of the Air France KLM Board of Directors, visited a home run by the Chaya France association, which takes in underprivileged minors who are victims of abuse and violence in order to help them rebuild their lives. Once they have become young adults, the beneficiaries of the education and care programme can go on to university or vocational training to become independent. 2,000 children have been helped in this way in 15 years. September 1 | 3 Anne-Marie Couderc meets children from Côte d’Ivoire and Togo Anne Marie Couderc stopped off in Abidjan to meet children from the Commandant Sanon primary school and members of Savoir Ivoire. The association equips 10 schools with school and teaching supplies collected in France. It improves the environment for pupils by renovating buildings and creating botanical gardens that are tended by the children. Anne-Marie Couderc also travelled to Lomé to meet the Togolese NGO Marem, which finances the electrification of homes for street children and promotes their education and social reintegration. September 2 | 3 Support for earthquake victims in Morocco The Air France Foundation has launched a fundraising campaign among Air France employees to help the victims of the earthquake in September. The funds raised, matched by Air France, were donated to the CARE Morocco association to meet the urgent needs of the victims by distributing food and hygiene products. Psychosocial care was also provided by teams from the NGO. September 3 | 3 Dishes by artist Picart Le Doux sold in support of the Foundation To mark Air France’s 90th anniversary at Galeries Lafayette, the airline offered visitors the chance to purchase original tableware by painter Jean Picart Le Doux, created for business and first class travellers. Officially founded on 7 October 1933, Air France was on show at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann from 28 September to 10 October. The Foundation also organised a major sale of Picart Le Doux tableware for employees at Air France headquarters. Profits from the sales were donated to the Air France Foundation and the Ailes Brisées charity. October Deep in Brazil’s favelas Field visits took place in Rio and Sao Paulo to children and young people living in the heart of the country’s most violent favelas. In Sao Paulo, a delegation of Air France KLM employees joined the Foundation to discover the educational systems implemented by five NGOs and associations. The quality of the tools made available to children and young people enables them to develop their creativity and exploit their talents, which are undermined by the vulnerability of their daily lives.
