It’s obvious to me that I should promote this work and be a part of it. I take part as a mother of course, as a citizen, as an executive. It’s a res-ponsibility I’m happy to take on because it makes sense, and the effects are visible and extremely tangible.” Directors Sarah Poniatowski, member of the Board of Directors, External Personalities’ College “I have always been politically active and very involved as an employee representative, as I have been with the Air France SSNAM orphans. Childhood and education are important issues for me. I had the opportunity to go to Madagascar and Africa with the Foundation’s team and see what they are doing in the field. The Air France Foundation plays an essential role. It’s a great way to showcase the company through these growing projects. We need to promote the Foundation more internally with employees. Because they essential to the Foundation’s work.” Directors SANDRA MOORE RIEUTORDmember of the Board of Directors, Employee Representatives’ College, Secretary of the flight staff employee representative committee “Joining the Foundation was a natural step” “I’ve been a pilot with Air France since 2019 and joining the Foundation was a natural step, as I’ve always been involved in humanitarian work. I grew up between France, Madagascar and India and I have Senegalese and Beninese heritage. So I’m very familiar with the situation in sub-Saharan Africa, and I grew up watching my parents invest in early childhood and education. I’m also a member and active volunteer with Aviation Without Borders. I travel with sick children, sometimes in emergencies. Many have never travelled before, and many are very young children or even babies. So they need support. The Foundation’s most important added value is the practical aspect of its work.” AF Staff Lydie Vissoh, airline pilot, active member of Aviation Without Borders “A great source of pride” “On December 8, 2022, the Air France delegation in Abidjan took part in the inauguration of the newly renovated Sanon School by the non-profit Savoir Ivoire. We represented the Air France Foundation, which supports this non-profit, as well as the airline. A few days earlier, the delegation’s employees had volunteered for a day to help beautify the school. We provided plants, DIY and gardening equipment and spent the day working on the school and grounds while delivering a message of respect for the environment. This action is a drop in the ocean, but it is necessary. Air France employees are very proud to be able to get involved locally, because there is so much to do. And we’re looking forward to doing other work with the Foundation in 2023.” Partners Anthony Simon,Regional Director Air France West Africa, based in Abidjan “Remarkable loyalty” “Our foundation was created in 2010 to help underprivileged children in the remote village of Thien Ghiep, 200 km from Ho Chi Minh City. We look after children in orphanages. We built a nursery school and are helping around 100 children with education grants. The Air France Foundation has supported us from the outset by funding 20% of our needs. We can count on their support. This long-term loyalty is remarkable. It provides us with vital funding, as well as credibility with our partners.” Partners Marc Witlox,Co-founder and Chairman Mai Nha Children Foundation Vietnam “A trusted partner” “The Air France Foundation is a trusted partner who has been with us since 2010. Our non-profit equips underprivileged deaf and hard-of-hearing children in France and abroad, and we were the first to recycle hearing aids. The Air France Foundation appreciated the circular economy aspect of our project and believed in us from the beginning. The Air France Foundation is supporting us over the long term, which is a real privilege, as well as the source of a wonderful relationship. The Foundation comes to see our work in the field. It’s great to be able to share these happy experiences together, when a child hears for the first time. The Air France Foundation changed the life of our non-profit in 2015 by awarding us the prize. This spotlight has given us new life. The Foundation also supports us with humanitarian aid, allowing us to carry large amounts of extra luggage when we go on relief missions.” Partners Odile Petit,co-founder of AuditionSolidarité “A caring relationship” “We work with local communities in south-east Madagascar to protect the largest wild population of greater bamboo lemurs (simus), a highly endangered species. We have a major educational programme that includes building permanent schools, paying and training teachers, setting up school canteens and developing an environmental education programme at Simus School, designed for this purpose. The Air France Foundation has helped us a great deal since 2019 with funding for the educational component. Without the Foundation, we wouldn’t have been able to do this much. In 2022, the region where we work was hit by two cyclones. The Air France Foundation helped us rebuild one of the 5 primary schools we support. Our relationship with the Foundation is based on the kindness of the teams and long-term support, which are essential to the success of our projects.” Partners Delphine Roullet,Director of Helpsimus
