Visit to La Concha READ MORE The tennis champ dropped in at our environmentally-sustainable innovation and production centre to congratulate staff for their work in producing hydroalcoholic gel during COVID-19, and to keep up their spirits in this challenging year. With respect to the current moment, Rafa spread a message of hope. “Now is the time to support meritocracy, good people, people who want to work hard, and entrepreneurs. We need to look to the future with a message of enthusiasm and hope,” he said. Rafa also appealed to people’s sense of responsibility to keep doing everything they can to care During the visit, Rafa Nadal was keen to learn about everything we do there. Even through a microscope! The stairs at La Concha are an icon and we had to get a photo of Rafa on them, as a good ambassador of our values. We explained to the tennis ace that the spring water was thermal and mineral-medicinal and he couldn’t help checking the temperature. Together with company President Juan Matji, he planted an almond tree as a symbol of the union between Mallorca and Cantabria. It turned out that Rafa is just as handy with a spade as he is with a racquet! Rafa met the La Concha team and didn’t hesitate to ask about the facilities, the work we do and our day-to-day activities. He was also impressed by the product manufacturing process. No wonder! Rafa checked out all the areas open to visitors and our colleagues made him feel part of our values: entrepreneurship, innovation and closeness. He didn’t want to leave without making a mark: his signature in our labs, an indelible reminder. Before leaving, Rafa posed with the La Concha group. Thanks for the visit, Rafa! for their health and #flattenthecurve. Cantabria Labs President Juan Matji commented that during the visit an almond tree was planted at La Concha because “it is a typical tree of Mallorca and Cantabria Labs is a family company with Mallorcan roots. Rafa Nadal is also from there, so we thought it would be appropriate to plant the tree here in La Concha so that over time it can grow and become a fusion of Mallorca and Cantabria Labs.” Before leaving the facility, Rafa said he found it spectacular: “We’re talking about a unique site surrounded by nature. Harnessing spring water for energy is not only very important in practical and sustainable terms, but it also has a special romantic meaning. I am thrilled to have visited a facility I think is incredibly special, in a place that is one of a kind”. And we thank him for the visit from the bottom of our hearts!
