Mechanics LMD.Dynamic Meteorology Laboratory A joint research unit CNRS, ENS - PSL, Sorbonne Université, École Polytechnique, Institut Polytechnique de Paris, 91120 Palaiseau, France. LMD, founded in 1968, studies climate and the environment for the Earth and planetary atmospheres. Research combines theoretical approaches with the development of observation instruments and numerical modeling. > Read more > Read more discover LMD website > discover LMD website > Research areas Dynamic atmospheric processes for Earth and planetary atmospheres Continent/ocean/atmosphere interactions Water cycle and clouds Atmospheric composition, pollution and large-scale transport Climate variability and evolution at the global and regional scales Societal impacts (health and energy) Key figures 60 Permanent researchers 21 Postdoctoral students 40 PhD students 160 Average number of publications per year The lab conducts cutting-edge research on dynamic and physical processes to study the evolution and prediction of weather and climate phenomena. LMD is a member of the Institute Pierre Simon Laplace (IPSL). Within the institute, it spearheads several projects focusing on climate modeling, the SIRTA observation site at École Polytechnique, planetology, and servers and databases. LMD is also member of the interdisciplinary Energy4Climate Center, which brings together 26 laboratories working on the energy transition.
