Ese año Comme des Garçons presentó su colección Body Meets Dress, Dress Meets Body, que iniciaría el camino hacia las nuevas siluetas, y Raf Simons redefinió la estética masculina hacia la androginia. Pero también ese año lle-garon a la alta costura Jean Paul Gaultier o Thierry Mugler, mientras que en las casas de moda francesas aterrizaron una nueva generación de diseñadores británicos, con Alexander McQueen en Givenchy y John Galliano en Christian Dior.
